Hi, I’m Katherine.

I am a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist based in Philadelphia, PA. While I have been passionate about healing and the mind since childhood, experiences navigating racism, sexism, and homophobia left me with a burning curiosity about the intersection between the systemic and the psychological. My path toward and approach to psychotherapy have been heavily influenced by this interest.

Pulled toward coursework that afforded me opportunity to deepen my understanding of systemic oppression, I completed a BA in English and Women’s Studies and an MA in Educational Studies focused on critical race theory and radical pedagogy at Tufts University. I then began my career writing and facilitating social and food justice programming for teens. Stirred by the emotional and psychological needs of the young people with whom I worked, I pursued clinical training and earned my Master of Social Work at the University of Pennsylvania.

I have practiced social work in a wide range of settings including residential treatment; elementary, middle, and high schools; post-incarceration support programs; and college counseling centers. I completed post-graduate training in psychodynamic psychotherapy through a Post-MSW Clinical Fellowship at Bryn Mawr College and hold a certificate in Integrative Trauma Studies from the National Institute for the Psychotherapies. I am currently training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, a relational, somatic, emotion-focused trauma treatment model. I am also honored to have been chosen as a 2021-2022 Fellow with the American Psychoanalytic Association.

Personal investments in Black feminist ideology, mindfulness, lifelong creative practice, and engagement with nature undoubtedly influence my work.

In addition to my work as a psychotherapist and facilitator, I helped create and run the COVID Grief Network, a mutual aid organization which supports young adults who have lost someone close to COVID-19.
